This is a serving volunteer position, ideal for those interested in providing opportunities for peer networking and resource sharing, collaborating on special projects that meet a unique need, or communicating the value of the Association.
Council for Diversity & Inclusion members oversee important initiatives such as training and communication while focusing on solutions related to diversity and inclusion within the ACUI and the profession. This position strengthens advocacy, community, and collaboration in order to serve and advance campus community.
Reporting to Director of Content Curation, for a two-year term, team members are responsible for:
Coordinating, communicating, revising, and updating a detailed plan for diversity and inclusion within ACUI.
Collaborating on the strategic development of diversity and inclusion initiatives for ACUI.
Identifying and sharing best practices for workforce and member recruitment.
Developing training materials to support ACUI staff, volunteers, and members.
Communicating regularly with members about issues related to inclusion and serving as a diversity brand ambassador.
Identifying opportunities to emphasize Intercultural Proficiency through ACUI’s educational content.
Instituting assessment and evaluation measures related to diversity and inclusion in the Association.
Identifying opportunities for greater accessibility and equity related to processes and systems.
Contributing skills and knowledge to further specific projects in both an advisory capacity and as a member of various work groups.
Developing clear initiatives with related metrics for accountability as a member or leader of a subcommittee.
Balancing this role with other ACUI responsibilities and communicating needs and goals related to this position and others.
Performing committee responsibilities in a timely and professional manner, maintaining strict confidentiality in proprietary ACUI business.

Applicants must also demonstrate an understanding of ACUI’s vision, core values, and core competencies, as well as the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Serving volunteer positions typically require a commitment of 4–12 months, though this varies by the specific project work of the role. Over the course of the term, volunteers should anticipate approximately 2–4 hours of conference call and project work per month.
